Lead capture 3 min read

Ask for an email only when it helps the conversation

Use an optional lead step with a clear reason and a useful follow-through.

Explain the exchange

A lead gate should make sense in the context of the resource. Tell the person why an email is requested and what they will receive next. If the resource does not require a contact detail, direct delivery may be the cleaner experience.

Use the supported fields

RelayDM's interactive or gated journey can collect an email, email with name, or another configured response where supported. Do not present phone capture as a built-in email-gate option. Check validation and the resulting delivery path in a controlled test.

Measure only what you know

A captured response is a lead record, not proof of identity, a sale, or consent for unrelated outreach. Review the captured data and delivery outcome separately, and keep future communication aligned with what the person was told.
